Five More Days

It may seem hard to believe but soon all the hustle and bustle will be over for another year — just five more days. Many people will be sighing with big breaths of relief, that is until the Boxing Day sales begin!

We are now in the fourth week of Advent and in this busy time before Christmas it would behoove us to remember the purpose of Advent. It is a time of preparation and  reflection. The purpose of Advent is to remind us that Christmas isn’t about shopping, family time or parties but its about the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

In the busyness of this time of the year it is easy for us to forget this fact. As a reminder to each one of us, it would do well for us to conciously take some time each day to spend apart reflecting on the reason that we celebrate Christmas in the first place; which is, as already stated, the birth of Christ.

It really isn’t all that difficult to spend some time apart, all you need do is make  time to do so. If you do so, I am sure that you will look forward to Christmas with a fresh opinion of this blessed season. This saying may be oversused, but you will soon discover that Jesus really is the reason for the season!  Merry Christmas!

About faithfullyhis

My name is Charles Quail and I am a retired Baptist pastor who lives in Dunnville,a small town southeast of Hamilton, Ontario. I also write a weekly column for our local newspaper, The Sachem. It is a column that I have been writing for about eight years. I am married and have two grown daughters. My best buddy was my dog Max, who is now chasing bunny rabbits in sky. I miss him terribly. My reason for wanting to write a blog is friends have told me that this is the next logical step in my writing career. My hope and prayer is that many will be both challenged and blessed by what I write.
