Winter’s Here

I’m not the biggest fan of winter, but it looks as though it has finally arrived on Ontario’s South Coast. The snow started last night and the ground is now covered. I shovelled snow for the first time this winter today. Not bad considering it’ the middle of January! Fortunately it wasn’t too hard shovelling as the snow wasn’ t too deep. And at least its stopped snowing now, but it is supposed to get colder tonight. Oh well, after all it is winter!

We’ve been blessed so far this winter  with the milder weather we’ve been having. But what will happen when winter finally arrives and we get some real winter weather? We’ll do the Canadian thing — complain about the weather!   Too hot, too cold, too much snow, not enough snow — if there is one thing that binds us together as Canadians it’s this – we like to talk about the weather.

Do you ever find yourself complaining about life in general? Or do you ever find yourself complaining to God that life’s not fair and why is He letting this (fill in the blank) happen to you? It is times like this that we must remember that God has our best interests at heart. He wants only the best for us and sometimes that means us going through  difficult times. There are times when He takes us through the refiner’s fire to “test” us as gold is tested so we may emerge from it stronger and purer in faith.

So as winter takes hold if you are in a winter season in your life, remember that God loves you and Spring is coming soon!

About faithfullyhis

My name is Charles Quail and I am a retired Baptist pastor who lives in Dunnville,a small town southeast of Hamilton, Ontario. I also write a weekly column for our local newspaper, The Sachem. It is a column that I have been writing for about eight years. I am married and have two grown daughters. My best buddy was my dog Max, who is now chasing bunny rabbits in sky. I miss him terribly. My reason for wanting to write a blog is friends have told me that this is the next logical step in my writing career. My hope and prayer is that many will be both challenged and blessed by what I write.
