On Remembrance Day

It was on this day, 25 years ago that the Berlin Wall came down. It is also 70 years ago 1 began. It is hard for us who live in this day and age to try to even imagine what it was like for those who lived through those times. It would be even harder for us to even try to even think of what it must have been like for those who served in the trenches. Yet many, during that “war to end all wars” fought valiantly, with innumerable numbers giving their lives for the cause of freedom.

And although WW 1 was not the war  to end all wars, those men fought and died (as have all who fought in any war) for a cause they believed in; and for that reason we need to honour their sacrifice. So on this Tuesday, at the 11th hour, of the 11th day and the 11th month, won’t you pause for  two minutes of silence to honour those who have served our country so faithfully? “To you with failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold it high”.

About faithfullyhis

My name is Charles Quail and I am a retired Baptist pastor who lives in Dunnville,a small town southeast of Hamilton, Ontario. I also write a weekly column for our local newspaper, The Sachem. It is a column that I have been writing for about eight years. I am married and have two grown daughters. My best buddy was my dog Max, who is now chasing bunny rabbits in sky. I miss him terribly. My reason for wanting to write a blog is friends have told me that this is the next logical step in my writing career. My hope and prayer is that many will be both challenged and blessed by what I write.
